FNSA Chapters

Included is the information for this years Diamond Chapter Circle Award. This year is more streamlined so that everyone can
understand the criteria. However, the sections are the same.
In order to be eligible, your chapter must meet the requirements for Constituency. This means that your chapter has their bylaws and
policies in to our First Vice-President by the deadline, October 2nd 2015. This also gets you points towards being our next addition to
the Diamond Chapter Circle!
Below is the breakdown of categories:

1. Faculty and Consultant Support of Professional Development


Provide a detailed letter of information about your local chapter. The more information you provide the higher points
that can be awarded.

Member Recognition
Do you have an annual awards ceremony?
Are students recognized at your pinning/commencement ceremony?
Are there additional events or communications where students are recognized?
Promotion of leadership
Does your faculty support you being a part of FNSA/NSNA?
Do they encourage you to join a professional organization after graduation?
Membership Support
Does your consultant encourage students to join FNSA/NSNA at the beginning of each new term?
What about other faculty?
Do they do more than just mention it in class or orientation? What do they do?

2. Membership
Do you have a mentorship program at your school for pre nursing students or new nursing students?
How do you communicate with your members?
Do you have a curriculum committee and do they report to the student body what is going on within the curriculum
conferences?
Is there an established membership committee?
What about membership recruitment events?

3.

Community Health
Has your chapter attended an event planned and held by an outside organization? (Relay for Life, etc.)
Has your chapter started its own community health event?
Have you authored any community health related resolutions at either the National (NSNA) or State (FNSA)
level?
Is there an established community health committee at your school?

4. Legislative Advocacy and Political Action


Is your chapter involved in the Legislative and Political arenas of nursing?
Is there a committee on Legislation or Political action at your school?
Have you authored a resolution, state or national, about Legislation or Political action?

5. Breakthrough to Nursing
Have there been events that have been attended by school aged children to increase their interest in health related
careers? (HOSA, etc.)
Has your chapter initiated an event to increase that same interest?
Is there a BTN committee established in your chapter?
Has your chapter held events for either new nursing/NSA members or for interested students/pre-nursing students?

6. Communications
What is the frequency that your chapter holds membership meetings? Please include the dates of the meetings
held since October 2014.
Is there a chapter newsletter that is provided to the members? Please include the dates released since October 2014
as well as copies of the newsletters
Does your chapter use Social media or any type of school based social media?
Is there an established communications committee?

7. Resolutions
Does your chapter support a previously passed resolution or a resolution that is currently in the process of being
presented at the next convention?
Has your chapter presented a resolution at the 2015 NSNA or FNSA convention?
Is there a resolution committee established in your chapter?

8. State and National Convention Participation


How many delegates were allotted for your school at the 2015 NSNA convention, and how many attended? Please
provide documentation from the consultant of your school.
How many delegates were allotted for your school at the 2015 FNSA convention, and how many attended? FNSA will
confirm this.
Did your chapter have students attend leadership retreat or preconvention 2015?
Do you currently have a member serving on the FNSA or the NSNA Board of Directors?

How do I show what we are accomplishing?

Letters from faculty/consultants
Letters from the dean
Letters from pre-nursing students or new nursing students
