Health and Safety Concerns emerging at CentreCourt Condo

June 30, 2015 Resident alleges CentreCourt Developments's brand new Peter Street condominium is
a lemon - and possibly a dangerous one.
During a heavy rainfall, approximately three weeks ago, waves of water flowed into the elevator shafts
of the new building due to exploding pipes, disabling elevators, and creating severe water damage and
general havoc for residents.
After weeks of climbing the stairs of the 40 storey condo and residents regularly getting stuck in the
sporadically working elevators, human health and safety concerns are being suggested by a concerned
tenant.
Martin Canning, a resident living at 101 Peter Street, is sounding the alarm for the immediate health and
safety of residents. "The question I'm starting to ask is at what point does a duty of care fall onto the
developer and property manager to fix things in a timely manner? What if there is a fire or someone has
an asthma attack? God forbid an emergency takes place and the developer or property manager is
responsible for something that could have been prevented.
Everyday there are line-ups into the street to use one working elevator - the other two have been
broken for weeks. People are regularly getting stuck in elevators and at times none of them work.
Capacity overage in elevators is a daily experience, which is also a real danger. My question is simple:
who is responsible and when will this situation be fixed or the risks mitigated? At this point, I think it's
very reasonable to begin an open, honest, public dialogue until a solution is found - and fast."
CentreCourt Developments is the developer and FirstService Residential is the property manager of 101
Peter Street Condominiums.
