Code of Conduct
All personnel residing in barracks or on Academy grounds are expected to conduct themselves in a
manner that recognizes their responsibility for common courtesy and consideration of others and their
personal property. Each of us are representatives of our home Fire Department and are expected to act in
accordance with department procedures. Everyone is expected to be quiet and in their proper assigned
places after lights out.

Cadets are expected to meet grooming standards and present a clean and well groomed appearance,
whenever possible.

Buildings, restrooms, eating places, sleeping quarters and grounds are expected to be kept clean and
attractive at all times.

Any tools and equipment are to be used properly and left in a clean manner after use.

Cadets are expected to promptly obey the orders of explorer staff and advisor staff. Any form of
disrespect for instructors and or Academy staff will not be tolerated.

Failure to obey the rules and regulations of the Academy will result in disciplinary action and can lead to
expulsion. Any form of harassment, goofing off, attitude, safety violation, or other infraction deemed
notable by the Academy staff can be included. A review committee will review infractions on a one time
basis and any form of violation may lead the committee to enact the following.
A. Non completion of the Academy.
B. Inability to participate in graduation
C. Expulsion and release to parent or guardian.
D. Any combination of A, B or C.
Exploring as stated by Learning for Life guidelines embraces a zero tolerance policy for the above.
Additionally there is a zero tolerance policy for drugs, alcohol and sexual harassment. A letter stating any
infraction may also be sent to the Department Head (Chief) of your home department.

I also agree to make safety for myself and others my number one priority while attending the Academy. I
also agree to be a role model for others.

I have read and understand the above statements and agree to honor and abide as a Fire Explorer by the
Rules and Regulations set forth by the California Fire Explorer Academy and Learning for Life. I
understand that if I am asked to leave, I will not be refunded any academy fees. I further understand it
will be the responsibility of my Post Advisor and or Parent(s)/ Guardian(s) to provide my safe
transportation home.
