Expectations

Working in an accounting firm is a new thing for me. I once had an experience on some
summer jobs but this one is different. This job is unique from my previous post because
I am expected to have skills in accounting. During my first day in the firm, I was able to
realize that work is somehow similar to studying in school. I am presumed to learn and
to have focus on my assigned tasks.
It is a great achievement to at least become a trainee of the firm. As a trainee, I have
objectives to fulfill. In order to able to achieve my goals, I have set my expectations
regarding the firm, the work environment and the work experience.
With respect to Ms. Lim, as our superior, I expect her to be able to lead and train us all
throughout the work experience. I hope she will become open-minded in rectifying our
flaws in the assigned tasks. I also expect her to be considerate when I ask questions
concerning methods in accounting which I have forgotten or havent learned in the past.
I also expect to have a responsive, approachable and welcoming work environment. I
wish to have a good working relationship with my officemates as much as possible in a
way that I will be able to approach them when I have questions and at times when I
need their expertise in accounting.
In my work experience in this firm, I expect that I would be given the opportunity to be
exposed to Accounting, Audit, Taxation and other related tasks. I also expect to finish
the working hours required or beyond as much as I my services would be needed. At
the end of this work experience, I expect to develop my learnings and acquire new
knowledge and skills from the firm which would help me become a good accountant in
the future.
