Coming Up

July 25: Puppy Wash Fundraiser - In conjunction with Wilkes


Blvd. United Methodist Church, Turning Point Ministries, which
serves our homeless, will be holding its first annual Puppy Wash
on Saturday, July 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the church parking lot
at 702 Wilkes Blvd. Proceeds will benefit Turning Point Ministries.
The cost will be $5 for small breed dogs and $10 for large breed
dogs. There will also be food, drinks and games for the kids. Contact
Terisa Sleet or Dinesa Morris of Turning Point Ministries on Monday
through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon at 573-214-4077.
Aug. 4: All-Church BBQ and Movie Night - The Family
Ministries Team will host an All-Church BBQ and Movie Night on
Tuesday, Aug. 4. Join us in the parking lot at 4 p.m. for food, fun and
games followed by a movie in the MPR suitable for all ages!
July 19: Festival of Sharing Kit Collection - Members of
Searcy-Feely Circle will be in the Connector to receive monetary
donations and kits for the Festival of Sharing. The July kit is School
Kits. School kits contain: 1 pair of blunt childs scissors, 1 30 cm
ruler (12 in.), 6 new pencils with erasers, 1 box of 24 crayons, 1
large eraser, 1 pencil sharpener (hand-held), 3 spiral or tape bound
notebooks of ruled paper, 8x10 containing a total of 200-210
sheets. No filler paper.
Seeking School Supply Donations - The 9th Boone County
Back-to-School Health Fair will be held on Aug. 8. This event,
hosted by Voluntary Action Center, Family Health Center and Family
Impact Center helps prepare students and their families for the
school year by providing necessary supplies and health screenings.
A list of supplies can be found and donations dropped off in the
Connector until Aug. 3.
Want to Serve in Guatemala? The Guatemala VIM team is
recruiting membersfor the Feb. 14-21, 2016 trip to provide medical
care inclinics in small villages of the highlandsin Guatemala. The
team will also work with a local team to build cinder block houses
for families chosen by the Organization for Indigenous Maya.The
clients are the indigenous native Mayans, many of whom are only
recently learning basic health care.The team needsthreephysicians
or experiencedFNPs, Spanish translators,a nurse,a physical
therapist and construction workers. If you are interested or
