Anatomy & Physiology

Research and Multimedia

Presentation Project
Students will work together in groups of 2 in most cases (absolutely no more than 3 per
group.) If you will be absent often for activities, you might want to pair up with someone
in the same activity you are in or you may want to work individually on the project.
Your project will count as a test grade!
Choose a topic directly related to anatomy/physiology. It may be an extension of
something we studied in class, a related disease, or something we did not cover that is
of interest to you. Your topic needs to be specific rather than broad, for example, What
is asthma and how is it treated? rather than breathing problems. Please do not
choose mental disorders.
Your completed project needs to be done from a professional point of view. It should be
something you would feel comfortable presenting to any group: teachers, medical
personnel, and parents, as well as students. Do not include sound effects, animations
etc. that are not relevant to your presentation.
Some class time will be provided, but you may need to spend some time working on
your project outside of class!! Your choice of topic needs to be turned in to your
instructor by the end of class on _____________________________.

Project Development
1. Research. You will spend approximately 2-3 days of the project doing research on
your topic. Make sure you gather information that is needed to understand and cover
your topic completely. Information needs to be correct so be careful where you are
getting it if using the web! Do not limit yourself to the web! There are excellent
resources in our library too! You must use at least 4 different references.
2. Interview. You and your partner will conduct an interview with someone who is
living with the disease you have chosen, a family member of a person with that disease,
or an expert in the field (doctor, etc.). You will have a list of questions that you are going
to ask prior to the interview that is included in your storyboard. You may choose how to
record the interview:
!
1) You may take a flip camera and include video in the presentation
!
2) Audio recording
!
3) Pen and paper
2. Storyboard. After you have gathered information, you will develop a storyboard for
your multimedia presentation. This is a hand-written, logical sequence of what each

slide will look like when you present your research to the class. This includes all the
text you will put on the side and a brief description of images you will include. Each
card should have text and some kind of graphic. You can use notecards or sheets of
paper for your storyboard.
Your presentation should include the following:
a)Title card - Give the name of your topic and names of the presenter(s)
b)At least 10 cards (but no more than 20) containing the body of your
presentation
c)Interview card - Who you are interviewing with a list of questions
d)Works Cited card
Your storyboard should be completed no later than ___________________________.
YOU ARE NOT TO START WORKING ON YOUR MULTIMEDIA SLIDES UNTIL YOUR
STORYBOARD IS COMPLETED AND HAS BEEN APPROVED!!!
3. Multimedia Software. Once your storyboard is complete, you will create the actual
slides for your presentation using PowerPoint or another suitable application. Make
sure there are no misspellings, grammatical errors, etc. in your text!
Your multimedia stack should be completed no later than _______________________.
4. Presentation to Class. You (and your partner) will present your project to the class.
Presentations begin ________________________.
!
When you present to the class you will need to turn in:
!
!
1) a printed copy of your slides
!
!
2) the grading rubric with your name(s) on it

Other Information
The text on the slides must be in your own words!!! Plagiarism will not be
tolerated.
All pictures (downloaded images, clipart, scanned images, etc.) must have references
both with the picture and on the Works Cited slide.
Make the text on your slides large! Use no less than 24 point; 36 point or larger is much
better.
Keep your fonts simple and easy to read.
Do not put too much text on each slide. You might want to use the 6 x 6 Rule as a
guide. That means you should not put more than 6 lines of text on a slide, and no more
than 6 words per line.
Keep background color, font, and font size consistent from slide to slide.
Graphics should be complimentary to the content of your presentation. Do not use an
image just because it looks cute or neat.
Do not connect you presentation to the internet. Site changes (and so does our
access).
Use MLA format for the works cited.
