Thepurposeofthisstudywastodeterminehowprincipalsviewtheimportanceof
technology.
METHODOLOGY
Whatisthemethodologyfortheresearchorapproachusedtounderstandthe
issue?Provideinformationregardingthefollowing:
Participants:Threehundredandtenprincipalsfromalargemetropolitan
areainU.S.Respondedtotheinterviewquestionnairethataskedprincipals
abouttheirperceptionregardingtheimportanceoftechnologyfortheir
schools.
Procedures:Analysisoftheinterviewdatabeganwithaprocessofdata
reduction.Theparticipantsresponseswerereadseveraltimestobecome
familiarwiththedata.Thedatawasthencodedintomeaningfulcategories.
Oncethecategorieswereestablished,anotherresearcherindependently
codeda10%sampleofresponsestodeterminetheconsistencyofthe
coding.

DataAnalysis:
Theanalysisofthedatastartedbythereductionofthedata.Thedatawascoded
andputintosixdifferentcategories.Theanalysisofthedatashowedthatthe
percentofmajorfunctionsoftechnologyintheinterviewschoolswas:
Communication34.5,Instruction27.7,Datasharingandmanagement13.6,
Resource14.5,Administrativetasks10.0,Studentlearning9.7.
RESULTS
FindingsorResults(ormainpointsofthearticle):
Theresultsofthisarticleshowedthemajorfunctionoftechnologyinschools.It
(results)demonstratestheimportanceofusingtechnologyfordatasharingand
management,asaresource,foradministrativetasksandforstudentlearning.
Also,theresultsshowthatprincipalshaveapositiveviewoftechnologyandare
usingtechnologythemselves.
DISCUSSIONS
Conclusions/Implications(foryourprofession):
Formyprofessionitisverysignificantusingtechnologyinmyclassroom.This
centuryistechnologycentury.Moststudentbeforecomingtoschooltheyknow
howtousetechnologicaldevicesforthatreasonasprincipalorteacherwehave
tousetechnologicaldevices.
REFLECTIONS
StudentsReflections(changestoyourunderstandingimplicationsforyour
school/work):
WhenImakelessonplansIhavetoconsidertheimportanceoftechnological
devicesbecauseindailylifethestudentsareusingtechnologyallthetime.Ithink
theycouldlearneasily,andbetterwithtechnologybecauseitissimilartotheir
dailylife.Icanuseonlineresourcestoteachmystudentsandhelpthem.Ibelieve
futureeducationcantbewithouttechnology.
