INTRODUCTION

1. What are principals perceptions of the importance of technology?
2. Do principals perceptions of technology differ by years of experience and gender?

Purpose of the research:


The purpose of the article is to builds on the prior research and includes an
open-ended, cognitive interview question that allows for the examination of
principals perspectives and 191 orientations toward technology.

METHODOLOGY
What is the methodology for the research or approach used to understand the
issue? Provide information regarding the following:
The authors conducted a survey.
Based on their survey, they published the results along with conclusion in this article.

Participants: 310 principals from a large metropolitan area in the southwest region of
the United States.

Procedures: The authors provide a survey to the participants. They conclude the
survey and the results analyzed.

Data Collection Methods/Data Source: Online Survey. Online survey enables to


collect data easily.

Data Analysis: The collected data were coded into meaningful categories. Once the
categories were established, another researcher independently coded a 10% sample of
responses to determine the consistency of the coding. The inter-coder reliability results
revealed a high level of agreement (Cohens kappa = .94).

RESULTS
Findings or Results (or main points of the article): The findings can be listed as
below:
Technology was used as a primary communication tool.
Over one-quarter (28%) of principals responded that 192 technologies were
integrated in teachers classroom instruction.
Technology can be used as communication (32.5%), instruction (32.6%), data
sharing and management (15.0%), resource (15.9), administrative tasks (12.0%),
and student learning (7.2%).

To help teachers integrate technology, school leaders need to keep up with the
latest technology.
School leaders must include technology to their visions.
School leaders should lead or train their staff members about using technology in
their teaching environments.

REFLECTIONS
Students Reflections (changes to your understanding; implications for your
school/work):
This survey provides important results. It clearly proves that technology is an important
tool and it can be used for may positive ways. One think that I would like to express is
that students learning tool. I was surprised that it became last place in the conclusion of
the study. I was hoping that technology can be used mainly for teaching tool for
students. And I think it should.
