CourseDescription
Thecourseisanintroductorysurveyoffundamentalsofinformationtechnologyasappliedtohealthcare.Topics
centerontechnologysimpactonthepatientlevel,individualhealthcareprovider,andhospitallevel.Itfocuses
onclinicaldataandphysiciandata.Theuseofdatatomeasureoutcomesandperformanceisexplored.Decision
support,systemintegration,andeducationalapplicationsisalsodiscussed.Thecoursealsoexploresemerging
andnewusesoftechnology.

paperconsistedofonelongquotethatwascitedappropriately,itwouldscore100%.Thiswouldnotbe
plagiarism,duetotheappropriatecitation.However,submittingonelongquotewouldprobablybeapoorpaper.
Lowscoresarenotnecessarilygood,nordotheynecessarilyindicatealackofplagiarism.Ifa50pagepaper
containedalloriginalmaterial,exceptforoneshortquotethatwasnotcited,itmightscorearound1%.But,not
citingaquotationisstillplagiarism.
SafeAssignincludesanoptioninwhichthestudentcansubmitapaperandseetheresultantreportbefore
submittingafinalcopytotheinstructor.Thisideallywillhelpstudentsbetterunderstandandavoidplagiarism.
