Aim of the Science and Technology K 6 Syllabus
The aim of this syllabus is to develop students competence, confidence and responsibility in their
interaction with science and technology leading to:
an enriched view of themselves, society, the environment and the future;
an enthusiasm for further learning in science and technology.
The Science and Technology K-6 Outcomes & Indicators 2000 outlines the following expectations of
achievements for students:
Early Stage 1
Stage 1
Stage 2
Stage 3
Kindergarten
Years 1& 2
Years 3& 4
Years 5& 6
While the syllabus requires that these outcomes be addressed it should be noted that not all learning
outcomes will be achieved by all students at the same time.
Statements of learning outcomes have been organised in the following groups and this is also reflective of
the syllabus outcomes.
