College Application Reflection

1. What is a college application fee waiver? Based on the applications you plan to

submit, do you qualify for any of the fee waivers presented? If so, for which do you
qualify? Do you plan on using these fee waivers to help out with paying for the cost
of applying? Why or why not?
When applying, most colleges and universities will tell you whether you are eligible for
an application fee waiver. If you were eligible for an SAT or an SAT Subject Test fee
waiver, or get free reduced lunch, you are eligible for assistance. That means you do not
have to pay for your tests or application expenses. I qualify for all the present fee
waivers. I plan on using these fee waivers to apply for school, because I dont have any
way to pay for it myself.

2. List the campuses to which you submitted applications. Write one paragraph
highlighting the three most important criteria you used in determining where to
apply. You may need to refer back to the 23 criteria for selecting a campus listed in
the SuperMatch College Search on Naviance.
I have applied to CSU Fresno, CSU Fullerton, CSU Los Angeles, CSU Long Beach,
University of Southern California, and Southwestern College. When picking a school for
myself, the three most important criteria I used in determining where to apply were the
major, location, and gender mix. The most important one was the major, which is
kinesiology in athletic training. Second was the location. I wanted somewhere in
California but a little far from home. Just in case that I did not get accepted to my first
choices, I had a plan b, so I applied to a school near home. The last criterion was the
gender mix. Coed is my first choice, but if I did not get accepted into any coed schools, I
would not mind going to an all-female school.

3. Which campus is the one you would most like to attend? In one paragraph explain

why this campus is your first choice compared to the others.

The University of Southern California would have been my first choice because it is a
private school, and only the best of the best go there. It is in Los Angeles, where my sister
lives, and I have made plans to live with her while continuing my education. She has

agreed to help me with my expenses until I am able to do it all on my own. I have friends
who go to several of the schools I applied to, and they all recommended USC because it
offers a variety of courses, research opportunities, study abroad opportunities,
opportunities to diversify studies by encouraging students to double major, and they offer
real work experience.
