Ministry
Philosophy

I have a passion for discipleship ministry. I also have a desire to minister cross-
culturally. Therefore, my perspective of future ministry would be in a cross-
cultural context, most likely Spain, in which I could engage in some sort of one-on-
one relational ministry. I have a desire to reach people for Jesus Christ through
relationship and hospitality.

Personal
Summary

I was born on July 9, 1990, in Castro Valley, California. I was the first born
of Christian parents and was raised in the church.
I was raised in a Christian family, so from a young age I was going to
Sunday school and church. However, when I was 5 years old, in 1995, I made the
decision to follow after Christ myself and it was that day that I became a Christian.
I was called into ministry during my junior year of college at a missions
conference. After talking to a missionary, I felt that a cross-cultural context was
exactly how God had built me. The mission field combined all of my strengths and
passions. I know it will be difficult, but I am very excited for the future.
My husband, Ignacio Cerda, was born in Monterrey, Mexico. His family
moved to Texas, and ultimately to Mississippi to plant churches among the
Spanish speaking population. Ignacio went to Southern Mississippi University to
study international business. However, after being called to the mission field he
attended graduate school at Dallas Theological Seminary to major in the Masters
of Theology. He has a talent for teaching and preaching, and connecting with
people for Jesus Christ. We met at DTS, and got married in May of 2014.
I enjoy learning about other cultures, traveling, and spending time with
family and friends.

IGLESIA BIBLICA NUESTRA FE BIBLE STUDY Dallas, TX
February 2015 Present
POSITION: I am currently responsible for a small group at my local church. This group
consists of young women from high school age to mid-twenties. The Bible study is
mostly in the form of discipleship with a weekly time of gathering together. We are
going through a book entitled Love-ology by John Mark Comer. This helps facilitate
conversation on love, relationships, and the purpose of marriage. I have found that
this book has helped start a lot of great conversations that have been key in the
spiritual development of these girls. I pray that the Lord continues to use this time in
their lives as they grow in Him. The group has been a great experience for me to
grow in discipleship and what that looks like. There are always aspects in ministry
that are challenging, but this group has been a truly great learning experience.

RESIDENT ASSISTANT Salem, OR
August 2011 May 2012
POSITION: As a Resident Assistant (RA) it was my responsibility to facilitate
community growth and activities for my residents. Due to the fact that I was an RA
at a Bible University, we also were responsible to organize weekly hall Bible studies
and encourage spiritual growth in our residents. The ministry was ultimately a
discipleship type of relationship that we as RAs were to develop and I learned so
much during this time. I learned that I have a passion for discipleship ministry, and I
see this being a huge aspect of any future ministry. This was not an easy position,
but one in which I learned so much and am so grateful for.

CAMP COUNSELOR Pacific North West
May 2011 July 2011
POSITION: I was a camp counselor for 7 weeks as a part of the Camp Team through
Corban University. During the summer, my team visited a total of 4 different camps
in California, Washington, and Idaho. I served as a counselor for high school camps
all the way to elementary school aged camps. My responsibilities included caring for
the well-being and safety of my campers, helping them to connect with one another,
nightly Bible studies, talk to each camper one-on-one to minister to them on a

spiritual level, and facilitate spiritual growth throughout the week. I learned so
much through this experience about mentorship, how to develop connections with
young people for Christ, and commitment. Although there were many difficult
aspects, I really learned how to put the needs of others before my own during
these weeks. It was a valuable experience.
