Foreign Exchange Programme (Germany)

In this age of globalization, students should be citizens of the world. The foreign exchange
programmes provide an opportunity for the students to observe different cultures and get a sense
of being global citizens and make acquaintances for life.
These programmess are a wonderful opportunity for students to see a different country, quite
unlike their own. The students get global exposure and an insight into global educational
systems.
A team of 20 students escorted by Ms. Jyoti Arora and Mohd. Aslam Ansari left for Germany on
the 23rd June, 2015 for an exchange programme with Friedrich-Ruckert Gymnasium. The
students participated in several cultural and project related programmes. They also gave a
presentation on multicultural aspects of India and achievements of DPSG. They attended several
classes with the high school students, including German, science and Lab practical based on
scientific concepts.
But all was not boring and study-related. The students visited several shrines and castles of
various south-German cities including Munich und Nremberg. The students also visited Coburg
University to explore their future aspects of getting admitted in the university. They also got an
opportunity to meet the Social Affairs Minister and on their way back they visited Waste disposal
and recycling plant. They had a small session on various processes of Waste disposal. On the
8thday, a workshop on Bionics was conducted by an industry expert wherein students learnt
programming of the Humanoid Robot. Without any shadow of a doubt students had a great
exposure to German language which will be of immense help for them in future.
They adapted well to the temperature and time difference and different lifestyle of the host
families. On the day of farewell, the DPSGiites performed an Indian classical dance and applied
Bindi and Mehendi to the German students. They also made the students of Friedrich Rckert
Gymnasium dance to the popular songs of Bollywood.
On 9th July, 2015, students returned back to India with many emotional and unforgettable
memories of Germany. The values and the memories have been permanently imprinted onto their
minds. The students wait breathlessly for the German students to arrive here in the session 201516.

The program was sponsored by Bosch. The students had been given a project on the currently
very pertinent global issue of Alternative Sources of Energy. They were to research and prepare
reports on non-conventional sources of energy relevant to their respective countries and at the
end of the program; Bosch would award a scholarship to the best project.

; travelled to Nuremberg, Rothenberg and Rhine Falls (Switzerland), studied at F.R.G. for a few
days, visited the BMW factory, sampled authentic German cuisine, stayed with their project
partners and experienced how life is in Ebern, one of the most picturesque towns of Germany.

families. The values and the memories have been permanently imprinted onto their mind. The
students wait breathlessly for the German students to arrive on the 30 th of October as that will
prove to be a fun and power-packed weekend.
A group of 9 students from classes 9-10 along with Ms. Sangeeta Mukherjee Roy were
involved in a foreign exchange program with Melksham Oak Community School, Wiltshire from
the 25th of June till the 5th of July. The foreign exchange program was a chance for students to
observe the traditional customs of the English countryside, the difference in the education system
and much, much more.
The students saw the design technology lab, where plastics from the neighborhood were
shredded, turned into sheets and used by the students; attended a drama class where they enacted
a scene from The Tempest; sat down in their dance room and observed the students doing an
interpretation of the Moulin Rouge. They visited Lacock, a national trust town, where the Harry
Potter movies and other period dramas were filmed. They saw the Roman Baths and tasted the
supposedly medicinal water. They visited London during the run-up to the Olympics. It was a
mix of true British culture, history, cuisine and mannerisms in the space of one week. The
students look forward to another action-packed week when the English students arrive in
February.
