Water Level Indicator (Switching LED)

Statement of the Problem:

In storing water it is very hassle to monitor the level of water manually. It takes
and it is prone to error.

Significance of the Project:

The Water Level Indicator is a system that is used in some establishment in
determining the level or volume of the water of their reservoir. Its application is often
used in some government establishment like PAGASA. They use it in their Early
Warning Device that is installed in some rivers in the Philippines.

Scope and Limitation:

This circuit only indicates the level of water in a tank or in its container. This
doesnt include any alarms that will indicate if the tank or container is nearly full or
already full. This water level indicator only used LED to indicate the level of water. It
also used Bipolar Junction Transistor as a switching device and not any integrated circuit.
This circuit also switches LED in every level it indicates. Only the LED in the indicated
level turns ON and the rest turns OFF.
This project cant function normally if the resistance of the water exceeds 1-mega
ohms.

Description of the Project:

The Water Level Indicator is using BJT switching during operation. It is has 8
LEDs that indicates the power supply and the 7 levels of water. When there is no water
the first LED automatically turns on. It indicates that the container is empty. When there
is water, the LED on that certain level of water turns ON while the rest turns OFF. A 9volts input is required for it to function normally. It is designed to determine the water
level of distilled water but can also work with tap water.

Recommendations:
The researcher recommends that there must be an alarm that will indicate that the
tank or the container is already full and not just only a LED.
