Brief History

The official name of the Barangay is San Juan Bautista, but its
original and popular name is Bibiclat. The word “Bibiclat” is corruption of
the word “Biclat”, the Ilocano term python. Later on, it was associated
with the word “Bibiclat” the plural form of “Biclat”.

Bibiclat was established during 1836 or thirteen years earlier that the
foundation of poblacion itself, it was officially created and organized in
1899, San Juan Bautista as its official name, in honor of the Patron Saint.

The earliest settlers were Ilocanos who came from Loag, Ilocos Sur.
Several years after, Pampangos and Tagalog arrived. Tagalog is dialect
spoken by majority of the inhabitant God-fearing and most whom are
Roma Catholic; they are active in social and political activities. Foremost
among its resident is Hon. (late) Zacarias B. Viernes, member of the
Provincial Board.

Prior to the arrival of the Americans, there were private schools in


Ilocano and Tagalog in the Barangay. In 1904, the first class in English
was opened but it was only after the liberated. Liberals complete
elementary school was organized. On August 25, 1970, the barrio
elementary school became a central school as result of the division of
Aliaga District into two districts, east and west, Bibiclat Elementary
School was chosen as seat of the District Supervisor, Mr. Pedro Pagba, its
principal who was designated Principal – in – charge of the newly –
opened elementary school
In 1966, a Barangay high school was opened. Spear headed by lay
leaders and the full backing of the barrio folk, it turned out its first
graduates in a969. It was the first Barangay high school in the division of
Nueva Ecija to graduate students.

More than 20 young sons of the barrio fought gallantly in World


War 11. One evidence of the barrio’s heroism occurred in November,
1944 when 13 Japanese soldiers led by Captain Sato were killed by
civilians and USAFFE guerillas under the able command of Carlos Hucom
of Talavera, Nueva Ecija.

Bibiclat is the biggest and richest of the Barangays in the town,


being the home of industrious people and rice and vegetable field.
Likewise, it is the only place in town that has musicians, two bands in a
row.
