Template for Constructing a Performance Task Scenario Using GRAPE

What understandings or standards will be assessed through this task?


SS8H3 The student will analyze the role of Georgia in the American Revolution.
a. Explain the immediate and long-term causes of the American Revolution and their impact on
Georgia; include the French and Indian War (Seven Years War), Proclamation of 1763, Stamp
Act, Intolerable Acts, and the Declaration of Independence.
b. Analyze the significance of people and events in Georgia on the Revolutionary War; include
Loyalists, patriots, Elijah Clarke, Austin Dabney, Nancy Hart, Button Gwinnett, Lyman Hall,
George Walton, Battle of Kettle Creek, and siege of Savannah.

Goal:

Your task is analyze a series of images related to the American Revolution, early
statehood, and westward expansion. After analyzing the images, students will be asked to
determine which key vocabulary term (from our Unit 3 Word Wall) the image relates to
and then complete a written response explaining the person, thing, or event, (Handout 1).
Students will then share out their responses as a review. (Handout 1 PDF File Images)

The goal is tounderstand key events, people and places that have occurred during the
American Revolution. Students will be able to choose an event that has occurred and
create a visual presentation.
The problem or challenge is Researching information and use of technology to
incorporate video, audio, and text to events chosen.
The obstacles to overcome are to be creative and unique in their presentations.

Role:
You are the author/narrator.
You have been asked to pick two battles of your choice relating to the American
Revolution. Of those two battles will create a visual representation of the event of the
American Revolution you found most interesting. You can create a poster, scrapbook,
power point, or movie maker.
Your job isto create a poster, scrapbook, power point, or movie maker informing the
audience about which events are most important.
Audience:
Your clients are your classmates.
The target audience is your teacher and your classmates.
You need to convince That those two battles were the most important events of the
American Revolution relating to its causes and its demise.
Situation:
The context you find yourself in is describing why both are important and arguing your
views on the issues.
The challenge involves dealing with technology availability and knowledge and being
open with your peers.
Product, Performance, and Purpose:
You will create a Persuasive essay /Visual representation in order to provide evidence
of your opinion on the two battles.
You need to make sure that your audience understands what you are presenting and know
all key information when presenting your product.
Expectations (Criteria for Success):
Your performance needs to include all criteria listed on the Rubric for
Persuasive/Visual
Your work will be judged by your teacher and your peers.
Your product must meet the following standards:
A successful result will be a B or higher.
