Tradition of Singing The Point

There was a young mambo in the Port-au-Prince region,


whom i will call Suzanne, who had as her lover the son of
another mambo, a woman who had long been her friend.
The young man for one reason or another became
inattentive to Suzanne and she, feeling that there was no
future in the relationship, became involved with another
man. The mother of the first young man was highly
offended by what she interpreted as Suzane's infidelity and
their friendship suffered because of it. Suzanne, wishing to
communicate to her friend that she was exaggerating a
situation that need not be taken so seriously, took the
occasion of a vodou ceremony which they both were
attending to sing the following song.
Haba un joven mambo en la regin de Puerto Prncipe , a
quien voy a llamar a Suzanne , que tena como amante del
hijo de otra mambo , una mujer que haba sido durante
mucho tiempo su amiga. El joven , por una razn u otra
perdio la attencion por Suzzanne y ella , sintiendo que no
haba futuro en la relacin, se involucr con otro hombre.
La madre de el primer joven estaba muy ofendido por lo
que ella interpreta como la infidelidad de Suzane y su
amistad sufri a causa de ella. Suzanne, que deseando en
comunicar a su amiga que estaba exagerando una situacin
que no necesita ser tomada tan en serio, aprovech la

ocasin de una ceremonia vud que ambos asistan a cantar


la siguiente cancin.
