Skill, teaching point, level, number of students

My lesson plan focused on articles in the grammar section. In my class, there are 15
students and all of them are at the intermediate level from China, Korean, and Japan. My
teaching point is the identification of an/a and the.
an/a is used to modify non-specific or non-particular none;
the is used to refer to specific or particular nouns.

2. What worked well? Why?

In my original lesson plan, I followed the PPP format. In the presentation section, I
believe the explanation of using articles (a/an, the) is clear. I offered models of every
kinds of usage and gave examples after each usage. For example, subject + verb + a +
singular noun beginning with a consonant: a boy, a car, a bike. After each explanation, I
asked my students to practice, which is very good for the reinforcement of each rule.
Moreover, the order of each rule is organized from simple to complex. For example,
subject + verb + add a before a singular noun to become a boy; then a/an or the students
need to use the context to add.

3. What didnt work well? Why?

According to my instructors feedback, I still need to check my grammar, when I deliver
and edit the lesson. In the lesson plan, I didnt give a clear purpose for doing exercise.
For example, after students finish the exercise, I asked them to discuss with each other.
However, I didnt tell them why we are doing this one. Additionally, one of my exercises
focused on singular and plural, so I needed to find anther one. Also, I got feedback from

my students. They said when I ask them to do activity, I didnt give clear directions.
4. What changes would you make if you were to teach the lesson in the future?
I need to change some materials and correct my grammar mistakes. Above all, I need
to give clear direction before students do the exercises or activities.
