Welcome to 7th Grade. A successful year of learning math lies ahead!


RULES OF THE CLASSROOM
These expectations are critical to a productive learning environment and be will consistently enforced.
1. Respect each other
a. Do not be a disruption to others trying to learn.
b. Keep your hands and your feet to yourself.
c. No noises during class:
i. Tapping (desks, pencils, feet, fingers, etc)
ii. Singing, humming, popping/squeaking noises, etc.
d. Keep your shoes on your feet.
e. No teasing others or using profanity.
i. Harassing or intimidating, even if you think it is just in fun, is not tolerated.
f. Cell phones must be OFF and PUT AWAY.
i. If your phone is out or it makes any noise it will be confiscated.
ii. Your parent can arrange to pick up your phone at the AP office.
If others cant learn because of your disruptive behavior, you can expect to be
removed from the classroom.
2. Respect the classroom
a. Classroom materials are very helpful to learning, but they are limited in supply.
i. Items used for in-class activities must be cared for and returned
ii. Whiteboards/Erasers
1. Put away when not in use (not on floor)
2. Dont use green marker (it doesnt erase well)
3. Dont write on or tear up the erasers
iii. If you are loaned a pencil, please return it.
b. Dont write on desks, including with dry erase markers.
c. No sitting on desks or shelves, they are not made to support you.
d. Do not lean back in your chair, you may fall and get hurt or break the chair.
e. No placing feet up desks or chairs, this is not a lounge room
f. No food & drinks (special exceptions will be clearly communicated ahead of time).
g. No gum, ever.
h. Dont leave a mess- put all trash in the can at the end of class.
3. Respect the teacher
a. I am here to help you learn and successfully pass the 7th grade.
b. Call me Mr. Beliveau, Mr. B or sir if you prefer, but I am not Hey You, Dude or Bruh
c. Raising your hand and waiting to be called is the right way to ask a question.

CLASS PROCEDURES
Materials needed for this class:
Pencils
Math Notebook (spiral or composition book)
Notebook filler paper
Dry Erase Marker
Before Class:

Students are expected to take care of personal needs (restroom/water) before coming to class.

Entering Class:
Have all materials needed with you.
Turn in assignments in the homework box (unless otherwise directed).
Be seated before the bell rings.
Items other than your notebook (binders, books etc.) are to be placed on the floor, not on a desk.
Begin the posted Warm-Up exercise/Bell Work quietly.
Students will not be allowed to leave the class to go to their lockers.
Students are to sharpen pencils prior to the beginning of class.
Wandering the classroom is not allowed.
Horseplay is not allowed at any time in the classroom.
During Class
Maintain your math notebook.
Be attentive and follow instructions.
Unless there is an emergency, you should not ask to go to the restroom within the first or last 15
minutes of class. Restroom emergencies may be referred to the school nurse.
Trash should not be thrown away during instruction.
Binders should be cleaned out at home, not in class, unless otherwise assigned
At no point should a student be out of their seat without permission
End of class
Students are dismissed by the teacher not by the bell.
Students will be released when items are put away, the class is quiet, and everyone is in their seat.
Notes on your math notebook:

Your math notebook can be a 70-page spiral notebook or a composition book


You will need start a new one for each marking period.
It is for you to have as a study guide and to prepare for quizzes, tests and the final exam.
Math notebooks will be graded and must consist of:
o Daily Learning Targets
o Vocabulary/Definitions
o Lesson Notes
o Examples
o Study aids/foldables as provided
o Table of Contents

Tutoring: Tutoring is provided for those students who are having difficulty mastering the material and for
students who may need some additional help with their work.
Tutoring Schedule:

Tutoring is available Mondays from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. in Room 309.

Tutoring is available Monday through Friday at 7:25 a.m. in the 7th Grade Computer Lab Room 306.
Students must bring all supplies needed for each session.

Conference Times: I am available 7:30 -7:45 a.m., 1:00-1:30 p.m. and 3:45 4:00 p.m. for conferences.
Because I may have a meeting already scheduled, please email or call in advance to make an appointment.
Assignments:

Classwork will be assigned and completed during class time daily.

Homework assigned will be due the next class day.

Homework must be done in pencil.10% will be taken off for pen.

All work must be shown to receive credit

It is the students responsibility to make up any missed classwork and homework assignments due to
absences.

The student will have 5 school days from the say they return to complete make-up work.

Tests:

Unit tests will be administered at the end of each unit of study.

Students are expected to make up any missed tests during tutoring before or after school. This should
be scheduled with the teacher.

Grading Policy:

Formative (classwork, homework, activities) - 45% of grade

Summative (unit tests, quizzes, 9-week exams) - 55% of grade

Late assignments will be assessed a minimum 10% penalty for each day late.

Progress Reports: Students are provided progress reports at the mid-point for each nine-week grading
period.

Disciplinary Policy:
District and school policies and procedures will be followed in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
Failure to comply with rules and procedures will result in the following actions:
a. Minor Offense Report/MOR will be issued and recorded
b. Parental Notification
c. Assistant Principal (AP) Referral - for continuing minor offenses or serious offenses
