Dress Code Policy Vista Peak (Physical Education)

Purpose:
Students in Physical Education are expected to dress appropriately for class on a daily
basis to allow for positive engagement within the curriculum, and to maintain age appropriate
hygiene practices for physical activity. Daily dress for physical activity is supported under the
following national standards for Physical Education:
National Standard 2: Physical and Social Wellness
National Standard 4: Prevention and Risk Management
All students must change clothing for physical education class, and will not be allowed to
wear the same clothing to class as for school. Students participating in after school athletics are
not allowed to wear any athletic jerseys, or team issued gear during physical education class.
Personal owned items affiliated with athletic programs, however, will be allowed and
encouraged for Physical Education Class.
Outline of Dress Code:
FootwearAthletic Sneakers with rubber soles are acceptable. Students will not be allowed to wear
flats, sandals, boots, hiking boots, or dress shoes during physical educaiton.
TopsStudents will wear any vista peak colored tops, or they can wear any athletic shirt associated
with an affiliated program at Vista Peak (example- VP volleyball, VP choir, VP band...etc.).
Shoulders must be covered, no cut offs, tank-tops, or spaghetti straps will be allowed.
Sweatshirts are acceptable for weather considerations.
BottomsAthletic shorts / sweatpants / windpants are acceptable.
No cargo or dress shorts accepted.
No Jeggings, or dress sweats, or leggings allowed.
Non-Dress Procedures
Students that are not prepared for class will

1. First offense the student will be reminded and documented.


2. Second offense. Documentation by teacher and phone call home to parents to assist
in the dress process.
3. Third Offense. After school detention served on ____________.
4. Fourth Offense. After school detention served on ___________.
5. Fifth offense. Recommendation of removal from class to the counseling department.
6. Sixth Offense - student will receive a unsatisfactory in physical education for the
course.
Students that are not dressed out for class will not be allowed to utilize cell phones, technology,
and will be asked to either assist the teacher, or will be asked to remain seated in a determined
area. Restroom privileges etc. will be limited to the first 5 minutes and last 5 minutes of class.
*** Students that are unprepared for class will not be given the opportunity for makeup classes.
Makeup classes will only be available for students that have medical excuses and excused
absences.
