The app. I dowloaded is: Brain pop

Here is the front page of the application

Brain pop is a cell phone application that teaches by showing movies about different subjects such as:

When clicking on Maths, it open maths topics:

I was interested in Geometry, when clicking on Geometry and measurement a movie starts with
explanation of terms of geometry

with voice and caption. The insertion of these two elements are beneficial because they help students to
know the right pronunciation of maths words. The caption solves the problem of students who sometimes
have hard time understanding the teacher such as ESOL students (foreign language students)
The app. also evaluates learning by making students take quizzes. I have to listen to social studies movie
regarding the systems of justices in USA

I took a quizz

I can also look at my score on that quizz

The student can keep record of ones score.

In conclusion Brain pop is a good educational tool that the student can use on ones cell phone. It can
come as a complement to the the classroom teaching. It is a captivating tool for students to learn since
students usually favor movies. One of the downside of this app is that it can not be RSS feeded since all
the content are in movies. If it were in text they may be possibility to add a RSS feeder to update the
content of the teaching.

curriculum-based
content that

supports educators and engages
the learners. Brainpop uses movies, quizzes, games, mobile apps, experiments and
activity page which in turn also allow instructors and learners to keep records of
accomplishments. It covers wide range of learning fields including Math, Science,
Social Studies, English, Technology, Arts & Music, and Health. One thing I like
about Brainpop is that it is not only individualised but can also support team and
whole-class learning. Within Brainpop instructors can tailor their assessments in
order to meet all students' needs.

only K-12 but also for higher education students that may need refreshers in certain
subjects such as reading or math. A lot of higher ed student find themselves placed into
developmental math and English courses in college. There have been many studies and
articles on how these developmental classes cost the student and the government lots of
money as the student's studies in college is delayed because the completion of
developmental classwork may be required. As current and/or future educators, this is app
is a great tool to add to our toolboxes.
