Dear 3rd Graders,

Hello! My name is Mrs. Strinni and I am pleased to be your teacher this year. I want you to
know that every day this summer I have thought about you. That may sound kind of oddplease keep reading. I havent thought about each of you individually because I havent met
all of you, but I have thought of you collectively; as a whole class. Ive imagined the new
group of third graders who will walk through my door on the first day of school.
Ive thought about challenging you.
Ive thought about getting to know what interests you.
Ive thought about appreciating your differences.
Ive thought about improving your strengths.
Ive thought about strengthening your weaknesses.
And Ive got a secret I CANT keep for the next few days.

Thats right! GENIIUSES! I know that inside each of you is a genius ready to shine! Ive
worked with geniuses for 15 years now, and let me tell you, it is the most amazing job in the
universe! And this year wont be any different!
So, think about YOUR genius. At what are you an expert? What can you teach ME?
What can you teach our classroom? What can you do to impact our school? Our community?
Our world? Our goal this year is to do just thatbe IMPACTFUL! Make your mark on
Whiteside District #115. Make your mark in our neighborhoods!
That is one big challenge we have facing us this year and YOURE the perfect group for
the job. There will be days when we have questions and when we struggle to succeed. But we
have GRIT! We dont quit! We dont whine! We support and encourage each other! We
persevere and we stick with it! That makes us GRITTY-GENIUSES.hey, I like the sound
of THAT!
I cant wait to share my genius with you and for you to share your genius with the class.
When you arrive at Open House, bring me a note with your name on it
and describe to me what your genius is. How will you help contribute
to our community & help us reach our goal of being IMPACTFUL?
See you Aug. 13th, 5:30-6:30, upstairs in Room 232. Falula the Flamingo will be at my
door to greet you! Bring your school supplies and check out your locker!
Sincerely,

Mrs. Strinni
