I notateit with
traditionalsymbolsaswell aswith some
unorthodoxones,whichI'll outlinein the

The letter M meansto mute a note
slightlywith thepalmof theright hand,while
anM with adiagonallinethroughit indicates
a slightlymutednote.W/B meansto benda
notewith the whammybar; the negative
numbersin the tab (e.g.,-1, -2, etc.)indicate
how manyfretsa noteis beingbentdown.
Thefirst placethewhammybar is usedis for
the -5 in the fifth line of the solo.To play the
notation,pluck theopenEstring andbendit
downwith thewhammybar, soundinga low
B, equivalentto the notelocatedfive frets
lower.
A diamond-shaped
note on the same
stemasa regularnotedesignates
a harmonic
overtonecreatedby soundinga stringwith
thepick (thenormalnoteis the onebeing
fingered)and quickly stoppingthevibration
with thefleshof theright-handthumb;some
experimentation
maybenecessary.
A circled
notemeansto tap thefretboardwith afinger
oftherighthand.Theaccent > indicatesa
noteto be slightlyaccented
whenpicked,
whilethe A meanstoplaythenotealmost
staccato(short).And a squarenotehead
designates
a ghostnote;onethat can'tbe
heardverywell, and that might havebeen
playedaccidentally.
