Course Syllabus
2015-2016 Leadership

Instructor: Ms. Kathleen Dietrich

Course Description:

Students will have the opportunity to develop their effectiveness as
leaders throughout this course. All activities are designed to
enhance a students communication skills, leadership skills, and
overall self-awareness. Students will help plan, implement, and
evaluate projects and will be instrumental in planning school-related
activities, such as spirit events, fundraising, and enhancing school
community and beautification.
Grades and Participation:
Students will need to demonstrate their commitment to being a
leader through their work on their committees, accomplishment of
goals and assignments, participation in school activities, and their
ability to uphold the leadership contract.
Committees (subject to change):
Communications Committee
Students on this committee are responsible for writing and making the
daily announcements and making sure students at Wright Charter School
are aware of any upcoming activities. In addition, students will create a
newsletter for the Wright Charter School community.
Social Committee
Students in this committee will be charged with the task of planning,
advertising, coordinating, setting up, running, and cleaning up for the
school dances.

Fundraising/Community Service Committee


Students in this committee will be responsible for raising funds for any
and all school-wide events, activities, or items purchased. In addition,
students will help research and coordinate community service activities,
which can fulfill the requirements for middle school students to graduate.
Rally/Spirit Committee
Students in this committee will be responsible for helping Cougar
Congress plan, advertise, set up, carry out, and clean up every rally, as
well as any additional special assemblies and carnivals. Students will also
help plan and advertise for the spirit days, including keeping track of
everyones homeroom points and planning treats and incentives for Spirit
winners.
Election Committee (1 st trimester only)
Students in this committee will be responsible for creating an
environment that as closely resembles the United States election process
(minus the electoral college) as possible. They will facilitate the speeches
from the candidates, the polling process, and the announcement of the
winners of the student body positions.

___Maintain an orderly Leadership binder (section of binder).
___Participate on a committee and fulfill your personal job
assignments.
