With a brush, brush here

And a brush, brush there
Here a brush, there a brush, everywhere a brush, brush
In my mouth Ill keep my teeth, E-I-E-I-O

Minutes: 15 INSTRUCTION Explanation of the activity/s to the students (list in

detail):

Tell the students were going to pretend that the eggs are our teeth.

Then ask them if they know what the yellow sticky stuff is that forms on their
teeth when they dont brush them for a long time.

Let a few students answer and then I will tell them that its called plaque. And
that plaque forms when we dont brush our teeth twice a day like we are
supposed to.

Take the two hard-boiled eggs and dip them in a very little bit of yellow paint.

Tell the students that this is what our teeth look like when we dont brush
them like we are supposed to.

Let them demonstrate how to brush the teeth the correct way.

Once I brush them take out the yarn which is my floss.

Start to floss the teeth and ask the students if they know what I am doing.

After a few students answer, tell them I am flossing the teeth because using
our tooth brush doesnt always get the plaque off of our teeth. It gets in
between our teeth and our toothbrush doesnt reach there so the floss helps
us get those spaces.

Call each student up and let them take a turn brushing the teeth.

The activity the students will be participating in will be: Brushing the Teeth.
Minutes: 15 Class Activity (see above)
I will know if the students are learning the skill/ knowledge if:

During our activity they brush the teeth correctly and can answer the basic
questions of how many times a day we should brush them and what the
yellow stuff on our teeth is called.

Teachable Moments & Potential Challenges:

A challenge could be that there is too much yellow paint of the eggs and it
becomes difficult for the students to brush it off. This wont give them a clear
understanding of how or why they should brush their teeth.

A child might not have the fine motor skills to do this activity.
