Kinder News
Week of: August 31- September 4, 2015

Dear Parents,
We had another great week last week learning and growing! We learned the three sounds of the letter Aa with many projects, applications and
practice. With a lot of repetition we are slowly memorizing our sight words. Recognizing words by sight is important in building that foundation
for reading. Thanks for remembering to send a snack with your child and a water bottle every day. This week we will be learning the letter Cc.
The letter c has two sounds. The first sound of c as in the word cat. The second sound of c as in the word circus. This week we will be
introducing the new sight words can and me. Practice sight words at home with your child.
Each week your child will get a letter book or any type of book that we will have read together in class. Please have them read it to you and you
sign the back of the book. Return it the next day so I can keep record of how many books your child has read. For every ten books your child
reads he/she will get an ice cream. Upcoming event happening here at Horizon is our Curriculum Night on Tuesday, September 1. There will
be three rotations, first will be from 5:00-5:20, second is at 5:30-5:50, and the third rotation will be at 6:00-6:20. Please plan on attending one of
the times, each rotation will be held in my classroom. Mrs. Quintana and I will be doing our session together.

Helpful Hints Homework Ideas:

- Attached to this newsletter is a sheet to help your child practice writing

his/her name. Please help them practice writing each day ONLY ONCE.
- Attached are number cards 1-20. Have your child put them in order from
least to greatest. Start with having your child put number 1-5. If your child
masters this, then have them try 1-10. If your child is able to do this have
your child do 1-15. Then do 1-20. Let them try on their own to show you
what they know. Then if needed, work with them on each grouping. Do not
glue to another paper. Use them for practice at home throughout the year.
- Attached are some cutting sheets to help give extra practice.

Sincerely,
Mrs.
Hernandez
