WELDING

- It is the process of joining together two or more


pieces of metals, whose contacting surfaces are
raised to a plastic state by application of heat,
with or without adding metal with or without the
application of pressure.

- It is the permanent type of joining method.

Advantages in comparison to riveting

- Leak proof joint


- It can withstand high temperature and
pressure.
- It is cheaper, stronger and simpler.

Disadvantages in comparison to riveting

- Assembly cannot be removed without


breaking.
- Is not suitable for every material
