Homework
Monday through Thursday

Read a book. Student should ask an adult to initial the sticker sheet in their
take home folder this month for reading homework. Beginning in October, the
reading homework will be initialed in the Vocabulary Journal. Students should
be reading for 20 minutes, 4 days a week.
Note: Reading group books may be sent home and can be used for this purpose.

Math homework activities will be returned to school in the homework/sticker


folder.

Math facts practice. Student should ask an adult to initial the sheet in their
homework/sticker folder after practicing on Tuesday & Thursday evenings.

* Vocabulary homework will begin September 21st and will be completed in a


Vocabulary composition book.

WORD STUDY AT HOME

There will be a menu of choices each week.


Word Sorts: students sort for the pattern
Word Hunts: students search for the pattern in a
variety of texts
Word Associations: write additional words that
connect to the target word or pattern
Vocabulary: students find new and interesting words to
put in their notebooks
Writing: students will include new vocabulary words in
authentic writing pieces, often connected to content.

Thursday Folders

This year we will use the white Dayton Oaks folders weekly for
important communications and student work. (Thursday Folder)

Please review all papers that come home.

Please read the news for the following week. This is also posted on the
team website.

Please return to school by Monday.

Notes to the teacher or school can be returned in the Thursday folder


or Take-Home folder.
