Final Project

Task:

You need to create an animal that is going to be strong and resilient enough to
survive in your chosen environment.
When designing your animal, you should consider:
- How this animal is going to stay warm or cool
- Where it will shelter
- What it is going to eat
- What size it is going to be
- How it is going to get its food and water
- How it is going to survive from predators
Your animal will be presented as a poster with 3D aspects and annotations of
its adaptive features. (Dont forget your reasons!)
Description of your environment:
This environment is dark and cold most of the time. It is very mountainous. It
rains almost all day. Because of the wet, dark conditions, the only plants that
grow well are small mosses and funguses. Animals living in this environment
include a type of mouse, a nocturnal hunting large cat, fish, and a variety of
insects.

Description of your environment:
This environment is dry and hot. Most of the environment is flat. Water is found
in underground streams but there is little water on the surface of the
environment. Most of the environments surface is covered in sand, although
there are patches of dry grass. When plants can get their roots down into the
water underground, they grow into tall trees with leaves at the top but not
along the trunk. Plants that are not connected to the water table are small and
dry, but they are edible. Animals living in this environment include insects, a
species of birds which nest in the high trees, a sand-coloured lizard and a type
of rat.

Description of your environment:

This environment is tropical: wet and hot. Most of the environment is covered
by rainforest. The environment is very flat. Water collects in large pools and
lakes that have water in them all year round. A species of poisonous plant
grows thickly on the ground. The spines of this plant are poisonous, and any
animal that steps on one is sure to die. There are lots of vegetation, such as
leaves, fruits and nuts. Animals include carnivorous snakes, a variety of insects,
monkeys, fish and birds.

Description of your environment:
There is no land in this environment. It is filled with deep water everywhere.
Temperature remains very cold all year around. There are small coral reefs
dotted about. In deeper waters, large underwater caves can be found.
Creatures such as small fishes, large predatory fishes and hard-shelled
creatures can be found. Regular plant life can be found underwater, for
example, seaweed in rock cracks.

Description of your environment:
This environment is cold and icy. It is covered with shallow water and Ice Island.
Plant life is scarce. The sun only shine for a couple of hour each day, therefore
it is mostly pitch dark. Hunting is scarce, and mainly takes place under water,
where small fishes and krill can be found. Because of lack of food sources,
predators are fierce in hunting, as they need to collect large amounts of food to
survive.
