While many are looking forward to the Formula One Grand Prix Race
next week, a group of people are already enjoying the races, albeit of a
different kind.
Some 2,000 people gathered at the Telok Blangah Community Club on
Sunday, with their pets in tow. These residents from West Coast GRC and
Pioneer constituency were taking part in the fourth qualifying round of the
Singapore Pets Idol competition.
The high-throttle activities included hamster races and dog agility
obstacle courses. Winners will compete with those from other districts at the
national finals in November.

The government will announce more measures to support Singapore's

heritage towards the year-end, said Acting Culture, Community and Youth
Minister Lawrence Wong.
He said the support may come in the form of assistance for community
groups, for example, to conduct research on the heritage of a particular area.
Mr Wong was speaking on the sidelines of "My Queenstown Festival",
an event marking Queenstown's 60th birthday. Queenstown is Singapore's first
satellite estate. Mr Wong said it is important for the nation's story to be
personally meaningful to everyone through the recollection of past memories.
