Rationale
In our rationale we discussed how we wanted to find out how gender and
academic standing related to binge watching, or if it related at all.
Working together we came up with our 3 research questions
Research Questions
-RQ 1: How do gender and age affect the amount of binge
watching?
-RQ 2: Is there a relationship between binge watching and
academic performance?
-RQ 3: Is there a difference between male and female
perception of how binge viewing affects their life?
How often do you watch 3 or more hours of a t.v. show or movie in one
week?
How often do you study or do homework during the week?
What is your current GPA?
Provide your opinion on the following statement: I believe that binge
watching affects the time spent on my academics.
Provide your opinion on the following statement: I spend less time studying
because of my time binge viewing.
We surveyed 236 men and 483 women in our survey (6 people identified
as other)
The mean of binge watches in the past week for men was 1.59 with a SD
of 1.91
The mean of binge watches in the past week for women was 2.00 with a
SD of 2.19
Our findings were not statistically significant enough to suggest that
women binge watch more than men
The survey showed that gender has no factor on how much someone
binges watches.
We surveyed a range of people from ages 18-87.
The mean age of people surveyed was 27.09 years old.
The survey showed that the older you are the less you binge watch and the
younger you are the more you will binge watch.
Overall, our sample slightly agreed that binge watching affects their lives
Mean: Academic performance 2.81
Mean: Spending less time studying 2.94
The difference between male and female perception was not large enough
to be statistically significant
The table shows the means of each genders perception on a 5 point
scale

Conclusion
Our results showed that there isn't a statistical difference between how
much men and woman watch nor is there a connection between academic
performance and binge watching
There is a connection between age and binge watching (the older you are
the less you binge watching)
Also even though there isn't a connection between academics and binge
watching, men and women equally believe that binge watching affects their
academics
