1. List the tasks youve worked on this week.

a. Had another meeting with the client to get more specifics

regarding the scope of the project.
b. Complete the Abstract for the project.
c. Taught several FYES library sessions this past week. Before,
after and during these sessions, I made informal
observations regarding the students research abilities and
habits. Furthermore, I distributed and graded handouts that
assesses the skills we discussed during these sessions,
which gave me further insight regarding my target
audience.

3 For each item you checked above, describe any difficulties or

concerns you encountered, the actions you took to deal with
them, and your future plans in this particular area.
a. Related prior experience
i. In addition to prior experience with the client/SME, I have
experience working with this class from the library instruction
side. Furthermore, I was able to work with some classes this past
week and gain more in-depth insight with the hand-outs that the
students worked on in class. The results of these handouts will
help me pinpoint specific skills that I should create more
instructional materials for.
b. Feelings, Attitudes, and goals, criteria, and constraints of the project
i. As explained in more detail below, Im still working out specifics for
the project. On one hand, I think this is a great thing because Im
taking time to meet with my client. Im also in the unique position
of working with the students in a FYES class already, i.e. I have
some insight regarding what they really know and what they dont.
On the other hand, I still lack actionable items for my
instructional design.

4 Other thoughts about your project or any help you need (if any)?
a. My thought process right now involves creating something
(or possibly several smaller things) interactive that
introduces or reinforces whats already happening in the
sessions. For example, one of the things that library
session I deals with is keyword searching. I could create a
simple (but interactive) activity in Storyline with alternate
endings that are all determined by the students choices.
Conversely, I can see simple tutorials and quizzes being
effective for this library course within a course for
several reasons: the faculty dont have to create anything
extra and its a simple way to assess the students skillset.
My point/question: Is it possible to leave it open ended, at
this stage? Right now, I think I can accomplish both of the
aforementioned ideas, but I dont want to bite off more
than I can chew before I realize it.
