Carnets: May be used for unlimited exits from and entries into the India and foreign
countries; are accepted in over 71 Countries worldwide; eliminate value-added
taxes (VAT), duties, and the posting of security normally required at the time of
importation; and simplify customs procedures. Carnets allow temporary exporters to
use a single document for all customs transactions, make arrangements in advance,
and at a predetermined cost. Carnets facilitate reentry into the India by eliminating
the need to register goods with Indian Customs at the time of departure.

EAR99 What is an EAR99 designation? Items that are subject to the jurisdiction of
the EAR but are not on the CCL, are designated EAR99. EAR99 serves as a basket.
ECCN Export Control Classification Number (ECCN). ECCNs are five character
alpha-numeric designations used on the Commerce Control List (CCL) to identify
dual-use items for export control purposes. An ECCN categorizes items based on
the nature of the product, i.e. type of commodity, software, or technology and its
respective technical parameters.

TIB What is a TIB or Temporary Importation Under Bond? Importers purchase and
secure the TIB from a custom house broker at the time of entry into the foreign
country. Often the deposit and payment has to be made in cash in the currency of
the country being entered. Occasionally, they will accept credit cards. The purchase
of a TIB is required for each country visited on every trip and the cash deposits
securing TIB's often take many months to get returned once the goods have been
exported. Fees for TIB's vary widely country to country and also depend upon they
type of merchandise being imported.
USML The United States Munitions List (USML) is a list of articles, services, and
related technology designated as defense- and space-related by the United States
federal government. This designation is pursuant to sections 38 and 47(7) of the
Arms Export Control Act (22 U.S.C. 2778 and 2794(7)).
USPPI A U.S. Principal Party in Interest (USPPI) is the person or legal entity in the
United States that receives the primary benefit, monetary or otherwise, from the
export transaction.
