Ms. Siobhan Loyd, Campus Recruiter
Deloitte
925 Fourth Ave, Suite 3300
Seattle, WA 98104
Dear Ms. Loyd:
I would be delighted to be considered as a candidate for a tax internship. On May 15th I went to an
office visit at Deloitte where I learned more about what the daily activities of a tax accountant
include and I had the opportunity to network with various Deloitte professionals. My positive
experience resulted in my decision to pursue a career at Deloitte. After reviewing the internship
qualifications, I believe that I would be an excellent selection. I am writing to express my interest
and desire to become a Summer 2016 Tax Intern at Deloitte in Seattle.
When I chose to major in accounting and become eligible for the CPA exam, I also decided that I
wanted to work in public accounting. I am interested in public accounting because it provides
dynamic work and an innovative environment. I have always been diligent, driven, and detail
oriented in all aspects of my life. Serving as the Vice President of Finance for my sorority, Delta
Gamma, this past year at Washington State was a leadership experience that helped me develop
skills that I will be able to carry into the professional domain. Directly before I took on the position,
my predecessor quit and was unable to transition me properly. There were many tasks that needed
to be simultaneously completed, such as consistently meeting strict deadlines, creating the sorority
budget, managing money for a financial account comprised of over $220,000, as well as holding
over 170 members accountable for making payments each month. While enduring many difficulties,
I maintained an optimistic attitude, asked for clarification from advisors, and discovered how to be
resourceful, patient, and driven whenever challenges presented themselves.
Furthermore, public accounting is a field that often requires significant time management, energy,
and self-motivation. Beyond what is already revealed in my resume, I am someone who knows how
to prioritize my time, set goals, and attain them. In September of 2013, my father fell ill with ALS,
which is a terminal disease. For the summer of 2014, I decided that it was most important to direct
my time towards helping my father and my family. However, as you will see in my resume, my
cumulative GPA is a 4.0. During my junior year at Washington State, I was able to maintain
emotional control under stress. I balanced being Vice President of Finance for my sorority with
driving five hours to be home most weekends with my family while still achieving my academic goal
of a 4.0. Given my perseverance and commitment to academics and extracurricular activities, I
believe that I would be the perfect candidate for an internship.
If you would like to contact me about my interest in this position or schedule an interview, please
contact me at (425) 301-6044. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I look
forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
