Assertiveness
Assertiveness is a form of

communication where individuals


express their thoughts, feelings and
beliefs openly and honestly.
Assertiveness also takes into account
the thoughts, feelings and beliefs of
other people.

always guarantee

they want, it is selfrewarding because it

The way people resolve their problems is critical to the

maintenance and quality of their relationships.


To be able to resolve conflicts between two (or more)

people is an essential part of peoples social well


being.
When a problem exists between two people, effective

communication skills may need to be extended to


include negotiation/ compromise to reach an agreed
resolution or decision about the problem .

Identifying who owns


the problem
General guide
the person with the strongest feelings, who has

the most to gain from a resolution of the problem.


When both people have strong feelings about the

problem, and both people will gain from a suitable


resolution, it tends to mean both people own the
problem.
