Year4graduatingpreserviceteacherscanbeexpectedtodisplayinterestinteachingasacareer,awarenessofpersonalrelationsinteachingandan
inquiringattitudetoteachingandlearning.Therearethreedomains,ProfessionalKnowledge,ProfessionalPracticeandProfessionalEngagement
alongside7corestandardsthatweaskyoutoreflectandwriteuponwhenprovidingfeedbacktotheserviceteacher.Thecriteriainthereportare
derivedfromtheAustralianInstituteforTeachingandSchoolLeadership(AITSL)NationalGraduateTeacherStandards.AcopyoftheStandards
canbefoundathttp://www.aitsl.edu.au/verve/_resources/Accreditation_of_initial_teacher_education_file.pdf.
Thisreportshouldbecompletedinconsultationwiththepreserviceteacherandotherrelevantcolleagues.AbriefcommentforeachmainStandard
willbesufficient.Preserviceteachersandteachereducatorsencourageyoutodescribespecificachievements,identifyareasofconcernandmake
recommendationsforfuturedevelopment.
Year4graduatingpreserviceteacherswillbeinvolvedinthedevelopmentofacurriculumfocusedprojectandextensiveteachingpractice,usually
inaprimaryschool.InYear4graduatingpreserviceteachersmightdevelop,implementandevaluateacurriculuminitiative,normallydrawingon
theirmajorstudiesbackground,usinganActionResearchApproach.Extensiveteachingpracticeisessential.Preserviceteachersareexpectedto
keepajournalcontainingreflections,evaluationsandthoughtsaboutthisprojectpartnershipwork.Thesebecomeexamplesandevidenceofhow
theymeeteachofthe7corestandardsofteaching.Thisevidenceshouldbesharedwiththementorteacherpriortothecompletionofthisreport.

Christinawasquicktoidentifystudentswhoneededassistanceorextendingandthoughtfullyplannedtoaccommodatethesestudents.She
wasabletoaccessorsearchforresourcesthatwereappropriateforthetaskusingtheinternet,library,schoolresourcesandassistancefrom
teachers.Tosupportherteaching,Christinawasabletoidentifylearningareasthatwereinneedofextraworkandplannedlessonsusing
AusVELStoaddressthese.ChristinadisplayedcompetentICTskillsandshecreatedPowerPointpresentationsforherlessonstoassistthe
studentswiththeirlearning.Christinaisanextremelypositivepersonandthisrubsoffonthestudentsastheyarehappytoworkforher.
Christinaaboundsinconfidenceandreallybecameinvolvedwiththestudentslearningandprogress.Shewasalsoinvolvedwithweeklyand
termplanningmeetings,whereshewasconstantlyinvolvedwithdiscussions,communicatingherthoughtsandideasamongtheotherYear2
teachers.

Duringthis6weekblockofteaching,Christinaplannedandimplementedallareasofthecurriculum.Shedisplayedasoundknowledgeof
whatneededtobetaughtandusedarangeofmethodologieswhichwereappropriate.Shedisplayedaparticularinterestintheareasof
NumeracyandLiteracy.Christinausedavarietyofteachingmethodologiestoimplementherlessonsandwasparticularlyadeptatkeeping
thestudentsfocussedduringlearningactivities.Christinaencouragedthestudentstohaveagoandatthesametimechallengestudentswho
werecapabletomoveonindependently.Shedeliveredherlessonsatalevelappropriatetoeachstudentsability.Christinawasorganised
andwellpreparedforthedaystasks.Shewasabletoindependentlyorganiseherownresourcesandnegotiateonanumberoccasionswith
otherstafftoutilisefacilities.Sheusedanumberofbehaviourmanagementstrategiestoensurestudentswereontaskandupheldthe
classroomexpectations,encouragingcooperationandpositivebehaviouroutcomes.Christinausedavarietyofreportingtoassistinher
teachingincludingweeklyassessments,oraldiscussionswithmentorteacher,studentmoderationpieces,PMBenchmarking,onlinemaths
assessment,observationsanddailywrittenworkandillustrations.Christinamaintainsapositivelearningenvironmentandusedpositive
reinforcementtohelpstudentsbuildonwhattheyknewandcoulddo.UsingfocusgroupsinLiteracyandNumeracy,sheassistedstudentsin

Christinahasdisplayedapositiveandenthusiasticattitudeduringhertimeatthisschool.Shehasbeenreliableandpunctualatalltimesand
displayedagreatdealofindependencewhenorganisingvariousactivities.Shehasdevelopedastrongbondwiththestudentsintheclassand
herfriendlycaringnatureenabledhertoquicklygaintheirconfidence.Christinawasquicktolearnclassroomroutinesandproceduresand
hadnotroublecopingwithusingclassrulesandconsequence,aswellasimplementingherownvisualbehaviourmanagementstrategy.Ona
numberofoccasions,sheprovidedrecommendationsandsuggestedappropriateactivitiesduringYear2planningasherthoughtsandideas

ThroughoutmyplacementatEppingViewsPrimarySchool,Ihavefeltwelcomeandincludedincollegialdiscussions.Mymentorhas
providedmewithconstructivefeedbackfromlessonsoverthedurationofmyplacement.ThroughoutmysixweekblockIhavebeeninvolved
inweeklyplanningandhavedevelopedadeeperunderstandingastohowplanningisundertakenatEppingViewsPrimarySchool.Attending
theseweeklyplanningsessionshasgivenmeguidanceinknowingwhatisexpectedofmetoprepareforthefollowingweekslessons.Ihave
sharedresourceswithcolleaguesandhavefeltsatisfiedwhenothershaveaskedtousetheresourcesthatIhavecreated.Overthedurationof
myplacement,Ihavedevelopedpositiverapportsandmutualrespectwithstudents.Ihaveusedavarietyofstrategiesintheclassroomin
regardstobehaviourmanagementtogivestudentstheknowledgeandunderstandingofwhatisexpectedofthemintheclassroom.
ThroughoutmyplacementIhaveseentheuseofICTwidelyincorporatedintheclassroom.ICThasbeenpositivelyincorporatedintolessons
toshowstudentstheimportanceoftheevolving21stcentury.IhaveattendedmultipleexcursionsandbeeninvolvedinaYear2sleepover
wherestudentsattendedadiscoandthensleptattheschool.Attendingthissleepovergavemetheexperienceandknowledgeastohow
curricularactivitiesareundertookandbroughttopractice.Asthisismylastyearofuniversity,ithasbeenlovelytobeactivelyinvolvedwith
theYear2team.Ihavefeltcomfortableandmymentorhasprovidedmewithassistanceandexpertisetohelpimprovemyteachingskills.
