Interpreter Boundary Waters Canoe Area trip
Interpret all information conveyed for one Deaf middle school student
Remain flexible and motivated, given the numerous demands of a BWCA trip, including canoeing,
portaging, rain and bugs
Work effectively with a team interpreter, and help maintain an accessible environment all members of
the group
Interpret numerous sessions relating to the outdoors for a group of Deaf high school students and staff,
including informational workshops, games and meals
Manage interpreting for both large and small groups with a team of three interpreters
Collaborate with camp staff, helping create an accessible and supportive environment for all involved
Establish goals related to developing interpreting skills and ethical decision making
Interpret multiple classes under the supervision and with support from two certified staff interpreters
Discuss interpreting work regularly; analyzing successes, challenges as well as demands and controls
Volunteer Experience
Helped prepare, organize and interpret during
the first three days of the Certified Deaf Interpreter Conference
Interpreted for arriving guests at the ASLTA Conference,
including check-in, questions, and more.
Ongoing volunteering at various Deaf events throughout the
Twin Cities (MDS, Thompson Hall, ASLBlend, and more)
