When you enroll in a music history class, you do not know what to expect of the

professor or the lessons that will be taught. You are not aware of what exactly you
are
"First, according to research by psychologist John Sloboda, a musical device known
as an appoggiaturausing a note that creates a slightly dissonant sound with the
melodyis especially effective at setting off tears in listeners. Martin Guhn, another
psychologist, explains why it works: "This generates tension in the listener. When
the notes return to the anticipated melody, the tension resolves, and it feels good."
When you put a few appoggiaturas in a row, you get a series of ups and downs,
which in turn gets your brain pumped up enough to cry. It should come as no
surprise, then, that "Someone Like You," has a bunch of notes which act similarly to
appoggiaturas. Plus, Dr. Guhn explains, Adele modulates her voice in a way that
creates even more cycles of tension and release. "

"Surprises in volume, timbre and harmonic pattern."

"Un-Thinkable (I'm Ready)" is a down-tempo R&B song written by Alicia Keys,

Aubrey Graham, Kerry Brothers, Jr., Noah "40" Shebib in the key of B minor. The
vocal range spans from D3 to D5 with a moderately slow and simple chord
progression of Bm, D major and G major.[2]
"confessing deeper emotions".
"Keys has never sounded quite as vulnerable and exposed as she does here".
"Skittering beats, trembling synths, deep piano chord progressions, and floating
drums"
