Kristen has demonstrated professionalism to a high


degree. She has presented herself positively and
enthusiastically in a range of teaching and supervisory
tasks during this placement.
Kristen has communicated very well with students
throughout the Secondary school and especially in the
classes to which she was assigned. She showed respect,
fairness and equity in her dealings with students and
worked hard to build good rapport with the students she
taught.
Kristen established very positive and appropriate
relationships with students in year 10, 11 and 12. She
communicated clearly and positively when in teachermode, and interacted effectively when in more casual
modes one-to-one instruction and informal chatting.
Kristen demonstrated excellent qualities of lesson
preparation on a number of occasions. Her lessons in
Year 10 English and Year 12 History showed thoughtful
sequencing of content, appropriate scaffolding of ideas
and creative use of resources including technology.
Kristen adopted a variety of approaches to lesson
presentation direct instruction, class discussion, small
group sharing, Kahoot quizzes, PowerPoint
presentations, text book activities.
Kristen used a variety of methods to initiate discussion
and understanding within the classes that she taught.
She displayed confidence in using a variety of
questioning techniques to capture the attention of all
students, effectively utilised the white-board to capture a
summarised version of the lesson, became aware of the
need to use differentiated teaching techniques to meet
the learning needs of every student, and was able to
reflect on and modify her approach from one class to the
next.

Kristen was sensitive to the difference in learning needs


and personality between students and was able to use a
variety of approaches appropriate to the occasion.
Over the course of her time in the school, Kristen made
significant progress in her understanding of the need to
adjust her teaching to the specific needs of her students.
Kristen engaged in both formal and informal aspects of
assessment in her interaction with students. She became
aware of the need for sensitivity in giving feedback to
students, and the importance of providing positive and
constructive responses.

Kristen was able to make adjustments to her approach to


classroom management over the duration of her
placement. She was able to reflect on and modify her
teaching style to good effect especially in knowing when
to change her approach mid-stream in response to
student behaviours.
Kristen maintained good control of her classes and
employed a variety of management strategies.

Also it is important to ascertain whether the student is at risk of failing and requires a staff member to visit the school

Kristen has conducted herself in a professional manner during her placement at BHCS
during Term 3, 2015. She has exhibited an impressive array of teaching skills and
displayed energy, creativity and a love of learning. She has related easily and
appropriately with colleagues and students and participated in the full range of school
activities on offer.
Kristen has more than satisfactorily completed her placement at BHCS and has my
endorsement as a future successful teacher.
