AUTOMATIC BOTTLING PLANT USING PLC

SYNOPSIS
To increase the productivity and to overcome skilled labour shortage, most
of the manufacturing industries are going for automation. The main aim for
us to select this Project work is to acquire practical knowledge in the field of
automation.
The technology is improving in a tremendous manner that a new
technology today is an old or obsolete after a short period of time. In any
industrial application aiming for automation PLC is playing a major role.
We selected AUTOMATIC BOTTLING PLANT as our Project
work and we used principles of mechatronics in developing this Project
work. The stepper motor used in this model is being driven using PLC.
PLC is a solid state equipment, designed to perform the function of Logical
decision making in industrial control applications. This has motivated us to
do the project through PLC.
The Automoatic Bottling Plant basically consists of two operations:
(a) The indexing mechanism for the selection of bottle to be filled.

(b) The feed control mechanism for filling of required quantity of


liquid in the bottle.
The first operation is performed using stepper motor which rotates for
a specified angle with instantaneous starting and stopping. The second
operation is performed by a solenoid valve. The stepper motor and solenoid
valve are controlled through PLC.
