Dear Students and Parents/Guardians:
Before we dive into the rules, goals, and procedures for this classroom, I need you to know that I
am committed to helping you succeed in this class. If you ever have any questions or concerns,
please see me before or after class to set-up a time to meet. Do not hesitate to email me, if that
works best for you. Be proactive about your education, and I will too.
Course Description:
Math II establishes the groundwork for the study of higher level math classes. An extension of
topics from Math I studied are linear equations, inequalities, polynomials, factoring, exponents,
lines, systems of equations, and graphing techniques. The relations and properties are dealt with
in the domain of real numbers, which includes rational and irrational numbers. Math II also
introduces the study of points, segments, triangles, polygons, circles, solid figures, and their
associated relationships as a mathematical system. Emphasis is placed on the description and
use of inductive, deductive, and intuitive reasoning skills. Powers of abstract reasoning, spatial
visualization and logical reasoning patterns are improved through this course. Points, segments,
triangles, polygons, circles, and solid figures are the structures studied. The focus is on
comparisons between these figures concerning surface areas, volumes, congruency, similarity,
transformations, and coordinate Geometry. Basic objectives are to help the student (1)
understand the structure of Math II, (2) acquire facility in applying algebraic concepts to problem
solving, and (3) prepare for Math III. Math I skills are used throughout the course.
Required Supplies:
I will supply you with: A textbook ( YOUR BOOK IS ONLINE AND I WILL BE SENDING
HOME A PAPER TO DESCRIBE THIS WITH IN THE FIRST FEW WEEKS OF CLASS! )

appointment.
Missed Assignments/Make-Up Work: You have 5 days to make up and turn in missed work
due to an absence. If you dont make it up, the grade will result as a ZERO!! This is the #1
reason why students fail besides poor test grades. Dont let it happen to you!!
**Late work will not be eligible for full credit. **
Attendance: Regular attendance is mandatory! If you have more than 10 absences you
will fail unless you make them up in the after school recovery program. Any absences over 10
must be made up! Check with me if you want to know your absences. Students missing 11 days
in a class per year will receive a grade of F for the course.
Teachers are responsible for taking daily attendance and to maintain an accurate attendance
record for each student. Absences are to be coded daily.
When it is necessary for a student to make up written work missed, the student must assume the
responsibility for contacting the individual teachers immediately about making up the work
