most important to the essay question. This paragraph should be anywhere from 4 to 6 sentences.

Paragraph 2: This paragraph should be an explanation of your first
characteristic/method/development. It should be between 4-6 sentences with a concluding
sentence that SUMMARIZES your position. Your topic sentence (opening sentence) should be
reworded differently from paragraph 1.
Paragraph 3: This paragraph should be an explanation of your second
characteristic/method/development. It should also be between 4-6 sentences with a concluding
sentence that summarizes your position. Your topic sentence should be a TRANSITION from
paragraph 1. (Ex. Another important characteristic of...)
Paragraph 4: This paragraph is your final point. You will explain in 4-6 sentences the last
characteristic/method/development that you have chosen from the source. In your opening
sentence, try to reword your selection differently than in paragraph 1. This paragraph will also
have a concluding sentence that summarizes your position.
*This essay should take between 20-25 minutes on the day of the diploma. It is worth the least
amount and my recommendation is that you save this essay for last. Please note that you must
choose 3 characteristics/methods/developments that match the essay question. If you choose the
wrong characteristic(s), more than likely you score an L or P based off of the rubric.
