Contemporary and versatile Glasgow based Kind of Blue duo comprises of Gabriel

Wareing on guitar and James Steele on tenor saxophone. Originally hailing from the
West-Midlands Gabriel and James spent time studying and performing throughout the
UK. The duo first began performing together at Birmingham Conservatoire through
their juniors jazz program under the tutelage of Mike Williams and Percy Pursglove.
It was in this institution where they began to develop their ability to perform as a unit.
Gabriel and James went on to continue their studies with the Jazz BMus program at
the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, studying with Tommy Smith, Kevin
MacKenzie, Mario Caribe and many other named Jazz musicians. Whilst studying at
the Conservatoire they had one-to-one tuition with Martin Taylor as well studying
with Brandford Marsalis, Makote Ozone, Bob Mintzer, Dave Liebman and many
other world famous musicians.
Gabriel and James have also been featured on BBC Scotlands Jazz house radio show
and Sky Arts Guitar Star. They have also performed alongside Lee Ritenour,
Laurence Cottle, Julian Arguelles, Jacqui Dankworth, Stewart Brock (Prides), Ross
Leighton (Fatherson), The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Midlands
Youth Jazz Orchestra and Bella And The Bear.
