WEEK 3

What I learnt was the schools of thoughts in second language

acquisition, the difference between descriptive and prescriptive linguistics.
Descriptive linguistics describes the language but prescriptive linguistics
deals with how language could be used. I also learnt that according to
behaviorism, habit formation and reinforcement are important while, in
cognitive psychology, psychologists try to discover underlying motivations
and deeper structures of human behavior by using a rational approach. As
to constructivism, all human beings construct their own version of reality.
We also learnt what communicative competence and eclecting are.

What I had difficulty in figuring out was the constructivism and the
meaning of eclecting. I couldn’t understand what you meant because of
my health problem last lesson. After reading it again at home, I could
understand it.

I suppose I need to focus more on increasing my concentration on the

lessons because it is very theoritical. Although I was sick, I came to the
class because I couldn’t understand it without being in the lessons.

I believe I may use this information

(behaviorism,cognitivism,constructivism)in my lesson because all of them
have different advantages and disadvantages. We should construct our
own way of teaching by using all of them.
