To improve my communication skills through the act of debating.
2) Preparation briefly identify your plan of action and include an approximate
timeline.
I will attend weekly MUN meetings on Thursdays in order to prepare myself for when we
travel abroad to participate in actual MUN sessions in 2016.
3) Action - how will you accomplish your goals? Who will be involved?
I will familiarize myself with current global events and issues by accessing information
through various broadcast media to keep up to date, so that I will be able to contribute
to discussions in MUN practices with Ms. Blanchet and other members of the MUN
team.
4) Reflection - what were your expectations? What did you hope to gain from this
experience? What did you learn? What are your next steps? How are the Learner
Profile attributes incorporated?
I have participated in MUN before in 2013 and 2014, which gives me a basic idea of
what MUN is about, and the preparation that is needed in order to achieve when
participating. With Ms. Blanchet, I expected the experience to be the same with regards
to preparation, but it is a lot more serious and demanding than I had imagined. I hope
to immerse myself in the news of world events and learn about foreign countries that I
would not have even studied if I had not participated in MUN. I also hope to become a

great debater throughout my time in this program. I will continue to attend meetings and
contribute to discussions, with the hope of securing a place on the team when we travel
abroad. This experience is one that encompasses the following Learner Profiles:
1) Knowledgeable due to all of the information that has to be studied
2) Communicators the act of debating
3) Thinkers critical thinking is required
4) Open minded an open approach towards issues needs to be taken
5) Demonstration what evidence will you use to show you have completed your
goals?
I will provide picture and video evidence, and also I will produce a trophy if awarded one
at an MUN session.
Estimate date of completion: March 2016 (depends on the date of the MUN Session
we attend)
