Canberra Light Rail Analysis:

A travesty of transportation.
Situation
The ACT Governments Capital Metro is a project based on light rail for Canberra. Before the project goes ahead, the government
wants to ensure all local voices are heard and all aspects of the issue have been independently considered. Your brief is to
research the issue and present a mini docu-drama which tells the story from your demographics point of view.

Due Date: 10 October (Tuesday Week 5, Term 4, Semester 2)


There will be ongoing classwork tasks/tests that will be assessed. These include:

Creation of an interview/survey, conduct the survey by consulting with a range of demographics in the community, then
analyse the data to include in mini docu-drama (see Final Assessment below); and,

Two annotated articles from two different perspectives that demonstrates your ability to comprehend a text through
the use of questioning the author techniques.

Final Assessment:
Create a mini docu-drama (short movie) that considers the light rail issue from a particular demographic position (e.g. elderly
person, child, university student, person living with a disability, etc.). Can use comedic/satirical effects if desired.

Introduces the issue and the controversy that surrounds it.

Addresses the possible environmental, economic, social and political impacts of the development of light rail.

Clearly states your recommendations and justifies your choices.

Uses persuasive techniques, including rhetorical devices.

Includes still and/or moving images, chosen for their impact on the audience.

Demonstrates competent use of technology, using knowledge of body language and voice control.
