OPQRST

Signs of:
o Stroke
Arm drift
Cincinnati stroke scale lift both arms in front of them,
close their eyes and watch for one arm to drift downward,
if drift, assess for CVA on that side.
CVA
Transport within 3 hours of onset of symptoms
o Alcohol poisoning
o Depression
Breathing sounds
Blood per kilo of body weight
Diaphoretic
Breaths per minute
Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
o Acetone on breath
o Dry skin
o Poor skin tugor
o Altered mental state
o Confusion
o Thirst
o Frequent urination
o Appear intoxicated
Strokes (cerebral vascular accidents)
o Ischemic
Thrombotic blood flow stopped by a clot
Embolic blood flow stopped by a clot
o Hemorrhagic - bleed
Transient Ischemic Attack
Glucophage diabetic medication
Lipitor high cholesterol medication not much effect on mental status
Epilepsy
o Tonic-clonic
o Focal motor
o Postictal state period of time after a seizure where slow to respond/
possibly unresponsive
