The Daily Britt

Interview with Britt Faverey
So tell me something about yourself
My name is Britt Faverey, I live in the Netherlands, in Breukelen. I am
15 years old and I am currently busy with my 4th year of high school
doing TVWO.
What is this I am holding in my hands?
This is my self-portrait for GLC; I made a newspaper about my life and
what I do.
Why did you choose to make a newspaper?
Because I think it is a nice way to present who I am. And in this way I
could show how I am in an easy way to understand because everyone is
familiar with a newspaper.
Why do you think people can get to know you via a newspaper?
Because as I already said everyone knows how a newspaper works, also
you can get a close look in my daily life, what I do from day to day,
what I am up to, what things play a big role in my life and what
happens in it. I think after you have read this newspaper you will know
me much better!
Why did you choose the name Daily Britt?
Because the Daily Mail is a very famous newspaper and also because
the name is exactly what I want to show people with this newspaper,
my life on the daily basis.
This is me with my friend Luna
at our sweet 16.

Economy
The average teenager gets around 70 euros per month, I get 65 euros
per month but I dont have to pay for my phone, below you see a table
Clothes
20 euros
Presents for friends
7.50 euros
Food
2.50 euros
Small things for myself
10 euros
India
25 euros
on how I spend my money most of the time:
News:
As you can see I spend 25 euros per month on India, this is because in
December I will go on a trip with school to India. I will tell more about
this further in this newspaper. Now I have to pay my parents 25 euros
per month to pay for this trip, my parents pay half of the final price and
I pay the other half. This has a huge impact on my monthly expenses;
before I paid this I spent a lot more money on clothes, now I have less
to spend on this area.
Not all children have to pay their own clothes, I get money for this, but
still my parents pay for the shoes and jackets. I think its good to pay
for my own clothes because in this way I learn to deal with money and
how to spend it in the best way possible.
Last month I dropped my phone, when I picked it up it had a huge
crack in the screen, then after 2 days the phone stopped working and it
had to be repaired. At that moment I didnt have enough money to pay
for this so my parents paid it, right now I have to pay them back every
month, it cost a lot of money, 130 euros. This also has an impact on
how I am going to spend my money monthly.

Sports
This week LMHC A4(loenense mixed hockey club) played against
HMHC A4(hilversumse mixed hockey club), this was the final game of
the league, Loenen was placed 1st together with Amersfoort and
Hilversum was placed 7nd. This game was very important for Loenen
because if they would win they would be fall champions.
Even though the difference between the two clubs was quite big the
game didnt start easy for Loenen, in the break the score was 2-1. If
Loenen lost this game it would mean they wouldnt end up in the first
place. After a good pep-talk, rest and some fruit the game could
continue. Then Loenen came to life, but Hilversum did to, they scored
a point and the score was 2-2. Loenen didnt want this to happen so
they kept trying, and they succeeded. At the end of the game the score
was 5-2, Loenen won. This means they are now fall champions and
they will play next season in a higher league.

Foreign news
As I already mentioned I will visit India with school in December
2015. Last year students from Mumbai, India came to our school and
stayed with host families in the Netherlands, this year myself and 17
other students will visit them in Mumbai.
It is starting to get real, in about 3 months we will fly to India and have
a life-changing experience. But this takes a lot of preparation, which
has already started. Every week we have meetings with the 18 students
that will go to India, in these meetings we discuss things like,
immunizations, departure and other practical things but we also try to
form a group and get to know each other better.
In Mumbai we will stay at the students houses, for most people,
including me, this is the scariest about the trip thing because we sleep
alone. But also this is very exciting because we really get to experience
how the people live over there and get a close look in their daily lifes.

Culture
On the 12th of September I went to a festival called Appelpop, this is a
free music festival. I went there with two friends and I met some
friends over there.
We went with the train, first to Utrecht Centraal and then to Tiel, this
is where the festival was. We had never been to a festival on our own so
it was very exciting to go. We didnt really know what to expect and
when we arrived it was very busy. There was a great line-up, we
couldnt see every act but we stood in front during the acts we wanted
to see which were: la Pegatina, Mr. Polska and Jett Rebel. La Pegatina
is a band from Barcelona, which plays rumba catalana with here and
there a touch of ska and cumbia. Their goal is always to make the
audience jump and dance and they always succeed. The atmosphere
was amazing and everyone was jumping and singing. Mr. Polska was
fun because everyone knew the songs and the atmosphere here was fun
because everyone knew him and the audience were mainly people from
my own age. Then last but certainly not least Jett Rebel, my friends and
me stood at the very front and the concert was amazing! The music was
good the atmosphere was good and everything was perfect, although it
started raining and everything hurt it still was amazing!

In this picture you see Jett Rebel, you

Entertainment
On the 19th of September me and five other friends threw a sweet 16.
This party took months of preparation and was very big. It was in the
backyard of two of my friends and all our friends stayed over night in
tents on a camping side.
With months of preparation behind us and our dads working on a big
wooden 16 for three days the big day was finally there. We arrived at
around 10 oclock in the morning to start preparing the decorations etc.
We worked all day to make it look like a real festival, and it did!
Everybody arrived at around half past seven and they were really
stunned to see it was this big.
We had a band playing and people started putting up their tents and
you could already feel the great vibe! We all invited our own friends
and because we live far apart not everyone knew each other which
worked out amazingly good because we all had a lot in common. After
the band played there was a DJ and the party was really getting started.
Just before midnight the wooden 16 was set on fire and this also
created a huge campfire which kept burning all night long. Around 5 in
the morning people went to bed but no one really slept. In the morning
we all had breakfast together. The party was a complete success!!

Here you can see the place and

the big 16!
