The students will

take a piece of
written work they
have recently done
for this class and
they will count up
the number of times
they used someone
elses work and will
show how many
times they properly
cited the sources
and how many times
they didnt,
percentages, they
will then go back
and recite the
sources they did
incorrectly. 3.

3. Analysis, Statistics,

The teacher will

research and
present to the
students how
much a person can
make off of their
work and how
much they would
be losing if it were
to be reused by
someone else. 3.
Model digital age

Remember,
understand, apply,
analyze, evaluate- the
students will have to
remember what fair
use was in order to
find it in their paper,
they will need to be
able to categorize
their citations into two
groups, one that is
cited correctly and the
other one which is
not, they will then
have to apply what
they learned by
sorting out their
citations and
analyzing how many
were cited correctly
and how many were
not, they will then be
evaluated by the
teacher to see if they
correctly identified
and fixed the
incorrect citations.

Remember,
understand, apply and
analyze- the teacher
will remember what
she found on fair use
when making her
PowerPoint, she will
use that to define fair

examples of how
others use it and

Social Studies
1. History

Students will
research a part of
history within a
certain criteria and
present it using
multiple formats to a
number of
audiences made up
of many different
kinds of people
(teachers, peers,
younger children,
older children,
administration, etc.).

Remember,

will have to remember
what they have
learned about fair use
and follow those rules
when researching and

have to summarize
what they have

The teacher can

talk about some of
the different cases
over time that
have occurred due
to the topic of fair
use, what can
happen, how much
it can cost you if
you dont do it
properly, etc. 4.

it clear what fair use

she can apply that
to making a

new research she
has found on the
cases across time
regarding fair use,
then she can

students why some
of these cases
happened, if they
were an accident or
if it were on purpose

Science
1. Physical Science
2. Life Science

Students will
research trends in
life expectancies
around the world
and explore reasons
as to why the life
expectancies have
increased or
decreased over
time. 4. Critical
thinking, problem
solving and decision
making- Students
use critical thinking
skills to plan and

manage projects,
solve problems and
make informed
decisions using
appropriate digital
tools and resources.

students will translate
their findings on life

will apply what they
have learned about
life expectancies and
what they have
learned about better

informed decisions
about how they are
connected and they
have to describe and

correct citations of
the works they used.

The teacher will

create a

the class on the

a presentation

Remember,

must remember and
use the fair use rules
when creating this
presentation as to be
a good example to
her students and
show them how to use
different material
from different
sources, she will then
summarize to them
what she researched
and what she wants
them to know, she will
apply that information
by creating a
presentation for the
students and to
evaluate what they
have learned there
will be questions at
the end of the
presentation the
students will have to
write down and turn
in.

Differentiation
Learning Disabilities EEOs

The teacher can

have students
create a
presentation on a
given topic, using
any technology
they wanted (ex.

assistive
technology they
may have for their
disability,
computers,
tablets, etc.) by
doing this those
students can learn
more about how to
use the technology
they have to
better suit them in
the future, on
future
assignments or in
future education.

Physical Disabilities
Gifted/ Talented

Students could have

to come up with a
presentation on the
use of fair use and
copyright but they
would have to
present it in a
different way than
just a PowerPoint or
Prezi. They could
use one of the
presentation
methods but they
would have to come
up with another way
to present the
information (ex. act
in a video, create an
animation, etc.)

Other
Reflection
In my matrix I tried to make it about learning about fair use and copyright, as well as, just incorporating it into the
everyday activities the students would be doing. I tried to mix it up so they learn about fair use and copyright and
then they apply it so they can see and understand how to properly do it and the actions that could follow if you dont
use fair use or copyrights correctly. I felt like I used remember and understand a lot but I think that is the core of the

knowledge being presented if you remember what was taught about fair use and copyright and understand how to
use it then you will be good to go, it is something that needs to be understood and remembered at all times, so I
tried to make that a point in my matrix that remembering and understanding was very important to this concept.
For the differentiation I tried to adapt it to create situations that would be helpful to the students involved and not
just an extra activity they had to do, I tried to adapt it and create realistic expectations that would produce quality
learning experience for those different types of children. I do realize this would take more time on my part or on
another helping professionals part but I do think it is important for those students to have those experiences and I
also think any of the activities presented in the matrix could be adapted to any kind of student, so everyone gets
something out of the learning objectives.
