Power point presentation: an explanation of who bushrangers

were, where they came from, what they did, and what conditions
they lived in prior to and while they were bushrangers. It explains
the difference between bushrangers who were escaped convicts
and those who emerged during the gold rush. It also briefly
explains why bush ranging died out.

Begin by telling students that there is a power point presentation
for them to watch that will teach them about bushrangers. Open
power point. Give the students time to read through the page,
and then select one student to read it out aloud. Question
contents of each slide prior to moving on to the next one. At the
end of the slide, question if anyone can explain in their own
words what a bushranger is. Discuss any questions the students
might have.
Explain that next we are going to get back into our pairs/groups

to work on their bushranger research. Get handing out people to

hand out their sheets. Select one group at a time to come up and
grab one book to share. Tell students when they are done with
the book to bring it back to the front and swap it for another one.
If students finish early explain that they are going to make an
information poster on their bushranger. This will be done
individually. Students need to create a draft copy on scrap/lined
paper that shows how they want to set it out. Next, students will
write a draft copy of all the information categories on lined paper
and complete an editing process. Teacher checks before the
student is allowed to begin good copy.
To conclude, ask if any students want to share one piece of
information they found on their bushranger. Question why, and if
they think their bushranger was from the first or second period.
Answer any questions students might have.
Get handing out people to collect the sheets.
